Negro set the tone from the very first period of Season 6 semifinal. Three goals in a blistering opening period gave them a 3-0 lead that Blanco never fully recovered from, and despite a spirited rally from the second seed, Negro held on for a 5-2 victory to advance to the final against Azul.
Marcelo Alcocer got it started, scoring early to put Negro on the board. Claudio Espinosa doubled the lead off a Paul Jenkins feed moments later, and before Blanco could settle into the game, Sebastián Carriles — who had gone without a goal all regular season — buried one to make it 3-0. It was a devastating opening stretch that left Blanco chasing the game from the start.
Fermin Javier got one back for Blanco to make it 3-1, with Antonio Zamora on the assist, but Negro answered right back through Weebo Gómez to restore the three-goal cushion at 4-1. Fermin struck again — this time unassisted — to pull Blanco within two at 4-2, showing exactly why the five-edition veteran is one of the most dangerous finishers in Sunday Night. But Negro wouldn't let it get any closer. Alonso Carriles — Sunday Night's leading scorer all edition — put the game to bed off a Claudio Espinosa setup to make it 5-2. With that goal, Carriles reached 25 career points in just two Sunday Night editions.
Iñaki García was the foundation behind it all. The four-edition veteran and former champion stopped 29 of 31 shots for a 93.5% save percentage, bending but never breaking during Blanco's push to get back into the game. Blanco split goaltending duties between Juan Pablo Cazares and Mateo Guzman, but the early deficit was too much to overcome despite outshooting Negro 31-21 on the night.
Negro advances to the final to face Azul for the championship. For a team that finished third in the regular season and was shut out 3-0 by this same Blanco squad in their first meeting, the turnaround has been remarkable. Carriles, Gómez, and García will carry the confidence of this performance into the biggest game of Season 6.
